Policies and Agreements

At Steppers Unite Inc., our commitment to inclusivity, wellness, and community service shapes every aspect of our dance programs. This Policy and Terms of Agreement for our dance events, classes, and services is designed to protect our community, set clear expectations, and foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where all dancers can thrive and connect.

Terms of Agreement for Dance Events, Classes, and Services

1. Participation & Eligibility

  • Age Requirements — Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a consent form.

  • Physical Readiness — By participating, individuals affirm they are physically able to engage in dance activities and have consulted a medical professional if needed.

  • Skill Levels — Classes and workshops may be designated by level; participants agree to register for appropriate levels to ensure safety and class flow.

 

Liability & Assumption of Risk

2. Acknowledgment of Risk

Dance involves physical movement that may include twisting, turning, lifting, and partner work. Participants understand that:

  • Injuries can occur, including strains, sprains, slips, or falls.

  • Participation is voluntary and at their own risk.

  • The organization, instructors, volunteers, and venue are not liable for injuries, accidents, or personal property loss.

3. Medical Emergencies

  • Instructors may call emergency services if a participant appears to need urgent care.

  • Participants are responsible for any medical costs incurred.

 

Registration, Payments & Refunds

4. Registration Policies

  • Registration is confirmed only after payment is received.

  • Some events may have limited capacity; spots are filled on a first-come basis.

5. Payment Terms

  • Payments are non-transferable unless explicitly approved by the organization.

  • Returned checks or failed payments may incur administrative fees.

6. Refund Policy

  • Classes: Refunds are typically not offered after the first-class session.

  • Workshops/Events: Refunds may be available up to a specified date; after that, all sales are final.

  • Cancellations by the Organization: If a class or event is canceled, participants may receive a refund or credit.

 

Code of Conduct

7. Respectful Behavior

Participants agree to:

  • Treat instructors, staff, and fellow dancers with respect.

  • Maintain a positive, inclusive environment free from harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior.

  • Follow instructor guidance to ensure safety and class flow.

8. Partner Dancing Etiquette

  • Consent is required for all partner interactions.

  • Participants may decline a dance at any time without explanation.

  • Inappropriate physical contact or behavior is grounds for removal.

9. Substance Use

  • Alcohol may be served at certain events; participants must be 21+ to consume.

  • Illegal substances are prohibited.

  • Anyone appearing to be intoxicated may be denied participation for safety reasons.

 

Safety & Facility Rules

10. Attire & Footwear

  • Proper dance shoes or clean, non-marking footwear are required.

  • Clothing should allow free movement and maintain modesty.

11. Personal Belongings

  • Participants are responsible for their own items.

  • The organization is not liable for lost or stolen property.

12. Photography & Videography

  • The organization may take photos or videos for promotional use.

  • Participants may opt out by notifying staff in writing.

  • Personal recording is allowed only with instructor permission and must not disrupt class or events.

 

COVID-19 or Health-Related Policies (Optional)

  • Participants agree to follow current public health guidelines.

  • The organization may implement temporary measures such as mask requirements or reduced class sizes.

 

Instructor & Organizational Rights

13. Right to Refuse Service

The organization may remove any participant whose behavior jeopardizes safety, disrupts the environment, or violates policies.

14. Schedule & Instructor Changes

  • Instructors may change without notice.

  • Class times or locations may be adjusted as needed.

 

Intellectual Property

15. Choreography & Teaching Materials

  • Choreography taught in classes is for personal use only.

  • Recording or reproducing choreography for commercial use is prohibited without written permission.

 

Agreement & Consent

16. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for or participating in any class, event, or service, individuals acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
